Osterville Anglers Club Weekly E-News — July 23rd, 2012

Ladies Shoal Troll — this Saturday July 28^th

The OAC has a long history of dedicating this tournament to our women anglers. The Captains meeting is Friday July 27^th at 6 pm. This is a bass and bluefish tournament and the entry cost is $50 per woman angler. Each woman can weigh 1 bass and 1 bluefish. Fishing is 7 am to 2 pm and weigh in 2pm0in. This is a charity event with proceeds benefiting Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. There will be a nice cookout and awards back at the club at 5pm. Member Dave Ryan has donated an Oyster raw bar from Cape Cod Oyster Company. In addition, there will be beef brisket, chicken and steak kabobs, salads and dessert. There will be a live auction including: Red Sox Tickets & one week in Seville, Spain. Patricia can also email you a list of auction items if you can’t be there and would like to place a bid. Last year some members also made a donation direct to Making Strides. Patricia can help with that.

Making Strides is trying to create an auction item containing bottles of wine. If any OAC members can drop a bottle to Patricia at the club Monday or Thursday this week it would be appreciated.

Cotuit Bass & Blue

Saturday, August 11^th. There will be an awards dinner to follow at Cotuit High Grounds Golf Club. The Captains meeting is Friday, August 10^th at 5:30 pm at Freedom Hall in Cotuit. The entry fee is $25 per angler and proceeds will benefit the Cotuit 4^th of July parade and Kids Christmas in Cotuit. For additional information, contact member Henry O’Shaughnessy at 508-428-3378.

Hyannis Waterfront Shark Festival

Friday, August 17^th – Saturday August 18^th. Proceeds will benefit the scholarship funds for the Hyannis Anglers Club and The Osterville Anglers Club. There will be a BBQ at the Hyannis Anglers Club Friday from 5pm-9pm and a surf and turf awards dinner Saturday at 6pm. The Captains meeting is Thursday, August 16^th at 6 pm at HAC. Tuna Time

Member George Scheppler reports he caught his first Bluefin tuna this past Saturday east of Chatham. He also caught his second tuna ever! To complete the trip he stopped at Monomoy and caught a 22lb bass on the way home. Nice fishing trip! Member Todd Walantis reports he caught a couple schoolie bluefin south of the Vineyard…also on Saturday.
