Derby Rules

May  17th  to October  19th

All OAC members in good standing are automatically registered in the 2024     Derby at no cost.  There will be an adult division and a youth division (15 and   under).

12 species to include (bluefish, false albacore, bonito, spanish  & king mackerel, bluefin tuna, black sea bass, fluke, tautog, yellow fin tuna, mahi and wahoo.  There is a 9 lb. min for bluefish  in the adult division only.  False Albacore will be catch & release only.  With the fish lying flat on top of the measuring device, measure from the tip of the snout to the end of the tail. Please submit a clear photo of the entire fish, showing this measurement, to be accepted by the tournament committee.  There will be a catch and release scup division for the Youth Division only.  Measure the scup, take a picture, release the fish and send info to the OAC.

New for 2024, a fresh water youth only  measure and release for pickerel, LM bass, SM bass, rainbow, brook and brown trout, white and yellow perch, sunfish and hornpout to be measured from the tip of the snout to the end of the tail.

We utilize the same point system used for OAC Sellars tournaments: 1st place =  10 points, 2nd place = 6 points and 3rd place = 5 points, for each species.  Weigh ins should be reported to the OAC within 2 days (48 hours) of weigh in.  Call    508-420-4336 or email [email protected].

The angler with most total points is the Derby winner. If there is a tie with points, the anglers with the first fish entered in the Derby, that places 1st, 2nd or 3rd (regardless of species) in the final results, wins the tie breaker.

Angler can win only one  place within a species.  1st, 2nd or 3rd of each species.

Lines in at 5 pm on Friday, May 17th  and all weigh ins must be reported at the OAC prior to 6 pm on Saturday, October 19th.

Fish may be weighed at a local tackle shop as part of an OAC tournament or self-weighed at the OAC. All fish caught in an OAC tournament are automatically entered in the Derby.

Fish may be caught on land or by boat and all fishing shall be on or around Cape Cod.
