Opening Week End Recap

This past Friday 40+ attended striper night at the OAC. The storms all stayed west of the Cape and we enjoyed some great food from the truck parked out front and got a good worm hatch with schoolie stripers busting all over. However, with the fish keyed in on the worms, they proved a little hard to catch. Grace Bunnell (above) managed the first fish of the night and walked away with a nice new rod donated by Andy Little at Powderhorn. Several other fish were caught, thanks to Taylor Cirillo for catching some of the worms and live baiting them for the kids!

Sunday morning member Todd Walantis cooked a great breakfast for 20 anglers with pancakes, sausage, bacon, bagles, etc. It was a great weather day and lots of fish were caught. I announced at breakfast we had 3 additional spin rods donated by Andy Little and we would use them as prizes for the most adult bass releases, youth bass releases and a separate outside bluefish category. The winners of the rods were:

Ken Blomquist with 50 releases (adult)

Sarah Bunnell with 11 releases (youth)

Dave Colantuono with 12 releases (bluefish)
