OAC 2012 Derby Re Cap

The derby ended Saturday and 50+ OAC members enjoyed a nice dinner back at the club. Thanks again to Dave Ryan, he donated an oyster raw bar and home made clam chowder. Also, Norm LaPrade brought his beef brisket, Cathy Lewis the chicken and ribs and Missy McGraw got everything else!! Andy Little from The Powderhorn donated all of the prizes through his Little Fish Co, the derby’s sponsor. Here are the final results:

Adult

2. Richard Trifone        16 Points (weighed first fish to break tie)

Youth

Cape Cod Maritime Youth Boat Building Program

Member Dave Reid sent me some info on an upcoming program for 6^th – 8^th graders. The cost is $150 and the students build a 12′ Bevins Skiff as a group. It runs for 8 weeks from 10/24 to 12/12. Wednesday 60in and Saturday’s 10 am0in. To get info call 508-775-1723 or email [email protected]

Global Shark Tracker

On September 17^th 2012, a 3400 lb female Great White was tagged off the Cape, given the name “Mary Lee”. You may remember the picture in the CC Times. They had brought the shark up on a boat and pumped water into it, while they attached the tags. You can follow the track online of this shark and others. In the past few weeks, Mary Lee has cruised down the east coast and currently is off Charleston, SC. Here is the link:
