Youth Striper Night & Opening Week End Recap

The OAC enjoyed a picture perfect weather day for our annual Youth Striper Night this past Friday. Ashley Walantis won our Great White Shark naming contest with “Bear” and she also managed to catch at least 3 stripers off the docks. Nice going Ashley! The fishing started out a little slow, but as the sun went down, kids were catching fish from all over the docks.  Bridget Bedenkop landed her first fish ever and will get her name on our “first fish” plaque which hangs in the club. Thank you to our Youth Chairwoman Dina Lyons for organizing the event and John Jenkins for his awesome food truck and Crosby Yacht Yard for hosting the event. Also, thank you to Andy Little from Powderhorn outfitters for donating lots of tackle for the kids to use and our corporate sponsors which provide funding for great events such as this. There are a limited amount of striper night shirts available at no cost if your children could not make the event. Contact Kendra at the club, while supplies last.

Larry Coggeshall Season Opener Saturday May 18th

7 boats entered the tournament. Dave Ryan won $350 with the heaviest combination of 2 bass weighed. Here are the complete results:

Barnstable Harbor Loaded with Bass

OAC member Richard Trifone reports that mackerel have shown up and there are bass in the 30-35″ class all over. I have been receiving many other similar reports since last week.

$5.00 Merchandise Sale was very successful  – the table will be available in the club until Friday.  On sale are short sleeve and long sleeve derby tees, Lady Shoal Troll tees, youth tournament series tees, and 20^th Anniversary glasses.
