Records Are Made To Be Broken

OAC Member and Tournament Chair Bruce Cunningham landed a 13.05 lb. False Albacore to set a new club record and move into the top spot for albies in our OAC Derby. Nice Fish! This “Fat Albert” was caught on board Magic, with OAC member Captain Ken Cirillo at the helm.

Bouillabaisse: Youth Fishing & Scavenger Hunt, This Friday, Sept. 7th

This event is for our youth members and friends (15 years old and under) NEXT FRIDAY from 4-8 pm. Our older youth can fish for bass, blues, scup, sea bass or any other of the derby species. The younger crowd can collect as many sea creatures that they can find (clams, snails, crabs, fish, etc). Fishing from 4-7pm with pizza and awards back at the club starting at 7pm. There is no cost for this event (thanks again to our corporate sponsors) and you do not need to register. Simply take your kids, grandkids and their friends out on the water (by boat or at the beach) and bring what you catch or find back to the club for a weigh in at 7pm.

Next OAC Tournament: One Day Bass Saturday September 22nd

Save the Date: the Richard B. Sellars One Day Bass takes place on Saturday, September 22nd. This is a competition for the annual Captain Bill Cotter Award which goes to the boat captain with the largest bass. The captains meeting for this tournament will be held Friday evening, Sept. 21 at the Club.  More details will be posted in coming E-NEWes.

OAC Derby

Sam Jaxtimer landed a 191 lb Mako this past week end south of the Vineyard. This will move Sam into 1st for sharks. Sam recently turned 16 and now competes as an adult. Great Mako! Youth member Nicholas Swaylik landed his first albie. It weighed in a little over 8 lbs and puts him first in albies for the youth division of the derby. Richard Trifone weighed a 30.90 lb bass putting him in 2nd place in the Derby. Also, a very nice fish.
