IMPORTANT CLUB UPDATES

Change of Plans for Coggeshall Opener & Father’s Day Tournament

Due to the weather conditions of this past weekend, we have moved the Larry Coggeshall Season Opener to this coming Sunday, June 3rd.  Therefore, if you didn’t sign up at the captain’s meeting, you still have plenty of time to sign up this week. Please email Bill or call Bob Lewis at 617-875-2200.  It looks like we will have at least 10+ boats for the Larry Coggeshall Season Opener.

And, the Father’s Day Tournament has also been rescheduled. It will now be held on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 17th.

There is NO registration fee for OAC members and only $10 for your non member guests. You have to register your boat by Saturday night at 6 pm May 26th. Call Bill at the club or again, Bob Lewis at 617-875-2200.

Three Bays Spin/Fly Re-cap
This past Saturday we had a nice day for the Three Bays spin/fly tournament.  This is a catch and release event and the objective is to catch the greatest number of fish.  This year Frank Torbey came out on top for spin with 16 releases and John Lake was the top fly angler with 3 releases.  Ken Cirillo had a nice bluefish explode on his popper and weighed it for the derby…just shy of 12 lbs…not bad for North Bay!

Boatwise Safe Boating Certificate
Saturday June 2, 2018
The Club has organized a boat safety course taught by New England Maritime. This course is designed as a refresher course for adult boaters, spouses and youth members that are at least 12 years old and would like a license to operate a boat. In some cases, this certification can also lower your boat insurance premium.
The course will include a rather in depth discussion of navigational beacons, use of horns, proper fueling procedures and much more. The course will be conducted on Saturday, June 2nd , 8AM- 4PM, and the cost is $99/person. We already have the required 10 participants, so it is a go for sure. Please call the Club ASAP for details (508-420-4336) or email us at [email protected]

This past Saturday evening was the Opening Day 2018 dinner and the welcoming of new members.

The event was a grand success due to the hard work of members Fran & Bob Clay, Peggy Cirillo and Ann Marie and Steve Tenaglia who made the center pieces, made appetizers and desserts and planned the menu catered by The Chart Room.

There wasn’t an empty seat to be had!

Drowning Doesn’t Look Like Drowning

It is the number two cause of accidental death in children age 15 and under (just behind vehicle accidents). Of the approximately 750 children who will drown next year, about 375 of them will do so within 25 yards of a parent or other adult. In 10 percent of those drownings, the adult will actually watch them do it, having no idea it is happening. https://www.soundingsonline.com/voices/drowning-doesnt-look-like-drowning
