Our thoughts and prayers also go out to the family of Ed Tellier (an OAC member since 1988) who passed away on March 2nd.

Eddie joined the OAC in 1988 and was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006. He also maintains a spot on our Leader Board landing a 205.0 lb Yellowfin Tuna in 1988.

For those folks that never knew Eddie, he was truly a great guy, admired by many, and one of those rare guys that forgot more about fishing than most of us wish we knew! For many years Eddie would bring his Hatteras back and forth from Osterville to Lighthouse Pt. FL, living aboard Cougar in both locations. When he was tied up at the end of the fuel dock at CYY, he always welcomed fellow anglers aboard to share some time and stories with him. For those of us lucky enough to have fished with Eddie onboard Cougar, you know how great a fisherman he was, always coming home with a full box.

Eddie will surely be missed.

Please find the link below for Eddie’s obituary and note his request for donations to be made to The Jimmy Fund, one of Eddie’s and the OAC’s long time charities.

The Tournament Committee is in the process of updating the leaderboard at the club.  For example, we have decided to remove Blue Shark.  There has never been a Blue Shark weighed and there never should be.  We are considering adding King Mackerel, as more members have been catching them in recent years.  Attached please find the current leaderboard.  We would like input from our members.  Is there a species, either saltwater or freshwater, that you would like added on there?  We will also update and better communicate guidelines and the process for entering a fish for consideration on the leaderboard.  Billfish can be weighed in certain parts of the world, but our committee wants to encourage release of billfish such as Sailfish & Blue Marlin.  We will not accept any weigh ins for these species.  There are other species that we would like releases only, such as tarpon, bonefish and permit.  Please email our Manager Bill with any suggestions by Friday March 16th.  Thank you for your input.
