Lisa Sette has been a member of the Marine Animal Entanglement Response team at the Center for Coastal Studies for the past 9 years.  She also leads a seal project with CCS and is a founding member of the North Atlantic Seal Research Consortium (NASRC).  Before coming to CCS, Lisa worked for many years as a naturalist and lecturer on expedition ships around the globe.  Her career on the water began at the New England Aquarium as a naturalist and at University of Massachusetts, Boston as a captain of a research

vessel.  She currently lives in North Truro on Cape Cod.

  

Entanglement is a leading cause of injury and mortality for whales and sea turtles around the world. The sources of entanglement are extensive and complex. This talk will provide an overview of entanglement here in New England and how biologists, fishermen, responders and managers are working together to come up with solutions.
