To access WiFi, simply use your personal notebook or laptop at the Club, and setup your user login account. Click here for user login instructions. If you have any questions or trouble with accessing WiFI, please contact the Club Manager and I will assist you (oac@cape.com or (508) 420-4336).

Atlantic Highly Migratory Species News

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) announces a final rule regarding Atlantic bluefin tuna (BFT) quotas and Atlantic tuna fisheries management measures.

The final rule:
(1) Implements and allocates the U.S. BFT quota recommended by the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT) for 2011 and 2012;
(2) Adjusts the 2011 U.S. BFT quota and subquotas to account for unharvested 2010 quota, and to account for a portion of the estimated 2011 dead discards up front;
(3) Reinstates pelagic longline target catch requirements for retaining BFT in the Northeast Distant Gear Restricted Area (NED);
(4) Amends the Atlantic tunas possession-at-sea and landing regulations to allow removal of tail lobes; and
(5) Clarifies the transfer-at-sea regulations for Atlantic tunas.

The BFT quotas (items 1 and 2 above) will be effective July 5, 2011.  The other measures (items 3, 4, and 5) will be effective August 4, 2011.

Please see the attached announcement for further information.

The Federal Register notice (as filed) can be viewed at: http://www.ofr.gov/OFRUpload/OFRData/2011-16769_PI.pdf

NMFS will post the published Federal Register notice on the Highly Migratory Species Management Division website (www.nmfs.noaa.gov/sfa/hms/breaking_news.htm) on Tuesday, July 5.

Become A Member

The Osterville Anglers Club (OAC) is a family fishing club — open year-round with social, tournament and education events for members, guests and the local community.  Membership has its privileges, as each member can use the Club at their leisure, to take-in the waterfront view, use WiFi at the Club, enjoy meals with family & friends – 365 days a year.

Want to see an aerial photo of our location and surrounding West Bay area, and find out more? … click here (upload takes approximately 10 seconds). Contact us at oac@cape.com and we will email you the 2011 memberhsip application.

The OAC kicks-off the tournament season with a Youth Striper Night/Learn to Fish Seminar in May (fun for kids and adults alike).  Our annual women’s angling tournament is the Ladies Shoal Troll in July. Plus another exciting line-up of Youth Tournaments and activities is planned for 2011.  Prizes and awards are given-out on the evening of the tournament at the Club Tournament Dinner, and also at the season end at our Annual Tournament Awards Night Dinner in November.

In addition, our annual Socials include the Season Kick-Off Social & New Member Party in June, the Mid-Season Social in July, and the Season Ending Party. Members enjoy great get-together evenings with music, dining & fun while taking-in the beautiful Club waterfront view of West Bay.  Education seminars and safe boating classes are scheduled during the winter and spring months.

For more information on how to become a member, contact the Club Manager at oac@cape.com or call (508) 420-4336. We’ll email you our new membership brochure and application.

Club Leader Board/Official Weigh Form

Awards Night updates to the Club Leader Board records have been posted — congratulations to Sam Jaxtimer, Joe Ferrero, “Junior” O’Shaughnessy, Bob Seidler and Mimi Walantis for setting new OAC Club records in Blue Marlin (Juniors), Large Mouth Bass, Striped Bass (Juniors), Grouper and Fluke (respectively).  Click here to see the new Leader Board records.

Whether you are fishing locally or in distant waters, bring along the OAC Official Weigh Form to post your record catch on the Club Leader Board (Men’s, Women’s and Junior categories). The rules are simple: the fish should be weighed in by a tackle shop or weighmaster with a certified scale, and signed by the captain / weighmaster — just complete the Official Weigh Form and bring it by the Club or scan it and email it to oac@cape.com.

Fishing Line Recycling

Recycling at the OAC (Boat US Monofilament Recycling Program)

Take some time and bring-in your old fishing line! The OAC has joined the Boat US Foundation’s Recycling Program. Check out the Fishing Line Recycling Box as you enter the Club — and help us do our part in this worthwhile effort. When bins are full, the collected line will be sent back to Berkley for recycling. It’s that easy! A great reason to stop by the Club with your kids and make it a family effort of giving back to the environment.
